After many years of trying to secure funds, Pevensey Parish Council (PCC) was pleased to be able to install a new piece of inclusive equipment at Pevensey Playground during the Winter. This replaces an old timber framed structure which had to be decommissioned.
Called “Treetops” and supplied by Wicksteed, the equipment will be dedicated to the Memory of the Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as this is where she was in Kenya, when she became Queen in 1952. The formal opening will be conducted by the Chairman of PPC on 8 May at 10.30.
PPC is grateful for funding donated towards the purchase of the equipment from the John Jackson Trust, Friends of Pevensey Playgrounds, Pevensey Coastal Defence Ltd, local donations and from Crowdfunding. The balance was paid from Council Reserve funds. A new path has also been installed at the ground enabling easier access to the equipment, which was paid for by a Grant from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme. A donation towards the cost of the commemorative plaque was kindly donated by Barry and Co, Pevensey Bay Solicitors
The Chairman said “I hope that families will come along on the day to mark the formal opening which fits well with the Coronation weekend when many events are going on in the Parish. Already children have enjoyed the new equipment, making the playground a great place to go to for our residents, local school children and families in the area. Our next community event is a Fete and Dog show which will be held at the ground on 25 June from 11-4pm”
