Q. Who made the decision to increase the charges in the car park?
Following a review of local car parks in neighbouring authorities. WDC agreed to increase the daily charge and to also introduce a second tier of charge. These charges were introduced from 1st March 2022.
PPC was consulted on the proposal to the increase in charges and objected.
Q. Who made the decision on the daily charging period?
WDC agreed on the daily charging period.
PPC were not consulted on this matter.
Questions on responsibilities of grass cutting and vegetation on the Highways.
Q. Who cuts the Grass Verges?
This year (2023) Pevensey Parish Council has paid East Sussex County Council (ESCC) for four additional cuts to be carried out to the urban grass verges. This will bring the total number of grass cuts to 6 (two standard and four extra) over the course of the year. The Parish Council has had to pay ESCC £1,585 to have the four additional cuts.
Urban grass cuts are to those grass verges within the 30mph areas. The verges outside of the 30mph areas are called ‘rural’ by ESCC. The areas are not set by the Parish Council.
The grass schedule and contractor have all been set by ESCC. The Parish Council has no control over this.
Q. When are the Urban verges due to be cut?
The urban grass cutting timetable can be found in the ESCC link grass cutting.
Rural grass verges still remain the responsibility of ESCC and the timetable can be found on their website.
Q. What should I do if a grass verge has been missed?
If an urban grass verge has been missed. You can report this to ESCC via their report a problem page Report a Problem
Alternatively you can report this to Parish Clerk via clerk@pevenseyparishcouncil.gov.uk – please provide as much detail including location and photos.
Q. Who is responsible for spraying the weeds on the roads, pavements, drains and gutters?
This is and always has been the responsibility of ESCC.

Bus Shelters
Q. Who is responsible for maintaining the bus shelters in Pevensey.
PPC own and are responsible for the maintenance and monthly cleaning of the 10 bus shelters in the parish at the following sites.

- End of Pebble Road, Pevensey Bay
- O/S the Library Richmond Road, Pevensey Bay
- Opposite the Cycletech, Wallsend Road, Pevensey Bay
- O/S St Wilfrid’s Church, Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay
- Opposite Chardwood Rest home, Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay
- Opposite Timberlaine Road, Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay
- Top of High Street, Pevensey
- Opposite Gresham, Wallsend Road, Pevensey
- Opposite Church Lane, Pevensey.
PPC pays for the bus shelter cleaning which is carried out monthly.
