SCARECROWS ARE BACK FOR 2022
28th MAY to 11th JUNE
Put the date in your diary – and your thinking cap on !
This year is our Queens Diamond Jubilee
In celebration lets make our villages
RED WHITE AND BLUE
As ever you can make a scarecrow to any theme you like but we thought
it would be great if we make that royal connection
If you are going away for the bank holiday – just display your scarecrow before you go.
Cash prizes will be awarded for
1) OUR QUEEN
2) A RIGHT ROYAL TABLEAU
Both will be judged on the Bank Holiday Weekend by our sponsors MASON BRYANT
We have missed our smiling visitors for the last 2 years so lets make a grand comeback
Get thinking and get making – I am already starting on mine
OUR QUEEN can be a “look alike” or a “caricature”
Why not get together with friends or neighbours to really impress with a
RIGHT ROYAL TABLEAU
This group can include any royal family members and even a corgi or two !
Or maybe even a street party
If you prefer to make something else then you are welcome to do that but
would be good if it has a red/white/blue theme
If you have some bunting then get it out
Lets make a huge effort to cheer up ourselves and passers
after these past two years of stress and lockdowns
Lets show Covid – you won’t keep us down !

Make your scarecrow/scarecrows – start planning now
Where to put it/them – definitely where they can be easily seen
It would be good to have some on the main roads (especially the groups)
Grass areas entering the villages – Eastbourne Road and Wallsend Road
End of Castle Drive – entrance to Beachlands
If you use your garden – can it be easily seen from the road ?
Chose a site where you can make your scarecrow safe and secure
Make sure there aren’t any sharp bits to harm anyone
If you are going to make a tableau and have a place in mind claim your patch on our page
Display your scarecrow anytime from 28th May
IT MUST be in place for judging by Thursday 2nd June 10am
Take a photo of your scarecrow
POST IT ON SCARECROW FACEBOOK PAGE
Hints : Clear, bright and fairly close up to show detail
This is important as the judges will be looking on FACEBOOK before they set out
With your photo include your scarecrows NAME AND LOCATION
Make sure the details are clear so the judges can find your scarecrow
So its PHOTO – SCARECROWS NAME – LOCATION
(you can post your photo and details as soon as you have made your scarecrow)
After judging the winners will be posted on the Facebook page
If your scarecrow is there send us a private message with your contact details
We will deliver your prize
The Scarecrow Trophy will go to the best overall
The judges decision is final
