The plant worked in various areas on the frontage early this morning ahead of the extremely high spring tide today. We will have plant working later this afternoon once water levels begin to recede. The team will be working in the village, Normans Bay and the Harbour. Please avoid approaching the working vehicles and allow them to carry out necessary works. They will be working into the evening.
After today’s afternoon tide, water levels will begin to fall throughout the week along with wave activity. We intend to continue recycling this coming week but will need to prioritise the areas that we are working on. We still expect to see the Sospan Dau recharging at North East Beach early in the week once the weather has settled down. The Bypass operation from Whitepoint to North East beach will also continue.

The first storm of the year has been named. The arrival of Storm Ashley coincides with high water levels from the Spring tides currently. We expect to see some cliffing along the frontage on Saturday and then some further erosion on Sunday. With this in mind, We will have plant working on the beach early Sunday morning ahead of the spring tide in the afternoon. After Sunday, water levels begin to drop quickly from then on, and at present, wave heights look to do the same so the team will continue to resume usual recycling works.
We will continue to monitor the situation and update should the situation change.

With the start of Autumn bringing in windy and wintery conditions we have begun the recycling and profiling works in various locations along the frontage. We are recycling at Cooden as there was a substantial build-up of shingle since our last time there in the spring.
We have a busy few weeks lined up making the most of the good weather rebuilding any summer erosion by profiling and also recycling activities.
Next week, we will carry out a Bypass of shingle from Whitepoint and transport to North East Beach, Sovereign Harbour. There will be a lot of heavy plant on the beach at Caroline Way and access route to the Martello Tower. Please keep clear of the moving and tipping trucks.
We also have a Shingle Recharge expected from the Sospan Dau most likely on Wednesday 16th October. She will be here for approximately 10 days recharging in front of the rocks at North East Beach at high tide day and night.
With only 7 months remaining of PCDL’s contract with the Agency, we are likely to have plant working on the entire frontage of the beach especially as we get closer to handover in order to fulfil contract requirements prior to the EA taking over running the beach on the 1st June 2025.
With so much activity over the next couple of weeks, please be vigilant when walking near plant.
